Description
North Park is located near the Nadezhda district and the Northern Industrial Area in Sofia.
In contrast to its surroundings the park is very green and full with flowers and trees.
The North Park was established in the 1960s on farming lands. The house of the owner of those lands sits at the entrance of the park. His descendants inhabit it now. After the fall of the communist party in Bulgaria the park was run down and sent to oblivion.
In 2014 a reconstruction began. Many new plants were planted, a man-made lake and two thematical playgrounds were constructed and numerous benches were placed. The two playgrounds are designated for children up to three years old and the other – for children from three to twelve years of age. The playground for the smallest children is located next to the man-made lake and has a marine theme. The second one is a playground replica of Nadezhda Airport – equipped with terminals, airplanes and all that is needed for young pilots and passangers. Both of these playgrounds are restricted by a fence, making parents comfortable. Aside from these two playgrounds there are numerous playground equipments scattered among the park – swings, slides and remenants of the communist period. There is also a outdoors fitness for those that like to excercise outdoors. Several restaurants, stalls and a small parking acommodate the park.
